Martine Gutierrez: ANTI-ICON

Public Art Fund, 2021

Exhibition of newly commissioned photographs by Brooklyn-based photographer and performance artist Martine Gutierrez. ANTI-ICON continues her exploration of identity across the cultural landscapes of gender, race, class, and celebrity. In ten new works, Gutierrez has transformed herself into a multitude of roles, reinterpreting a diverse canon of radical historical and mythological figures. The exhibition was presented simultaneously in New York City, Chicago, and Boston.
